In Ukraine, allowed to build 150-meter skyscrapers. In previous regulations, the maximum height by which high-rise residential and public buildings can be designed was 100 m.
“The change is contained in the draft new DBN “High-rise buildings and complexes”, which has already been approved and will be published in the near future,” Lev Partskhaladze, Deputy Minister of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine wrote on his Facebook page.
According to the deputy minister, the change will allow for the implementation of modern and interesting solutions in high-rise construction. This norm, however, applies only to public buildings. Previously, in order to build a building above 100 m, it was necessary to obtain permission for deviations from the DBN.
Andriy Ryzhykov, CEO and managing partner of DC Evolution, notes that when discussing the norms, market participants suggested increasing the height even further – up to 200 m. “For example, the height of the lowest among the TOP-50 of the tallest buildings in the world is 367 m. It turns out that Ukrainian skyscrapers simply do not have a chance to become even noticeable against the background of world skyscrapers. Unfortunately, such deterrence will continue to hinder the implementation of international experience in Ukraine for a long time to come. For some reason, neither in the United States, nor in the UAE, nor in China, where they are building buildings with a height of 500-800 meters, there are no problems with firefighting and wind load, and we all adhere to the centenary norms. But, of course, this is progress,” says Andriy Ryzhykov.
